All That Jazz with Paul Hefti

Paul Hefti GuitarPaul Hefti is one of my very good friends, and by far one of the most elegant guitar players I’ve ever heard. He comes by his musical acumen honestly, as most of his family members are musicians. His father, Neil Hefti, was a very well-respected jazz composer and arranger. He worked with Frank Sinatra, Count Basie, and he wrote the themes for Batman and The Odd Couple, among other ditties.

Paul lost his father a number of years ago, and has since dedicated his time and resources to securing his father’s legacy so that future generations can enjoy what past generations have cherished.

With his uber-talented jazz ensemble, Hefti Plays Hefti, Paul is now arranging and authoring lyrics for many of his father’s masterpieces.

Paul Hefti Sheet MusicPeople like Paul are one of the things I miss most about living in L.A. Not only do I miss our hang-time, but living in a city with so many supremely talented people was something I simply did not take enough advantage of. If I lived there now, I could see his band perform every few months. It would be amazing. Enjoy this journey though the 20th century, as seen through the eyes of the son of one of the truly great Jazz artists of all time.
