Failing Infrequently with Julie Scoggins
Whenever I host a comedy show, I always go out of my way to get to know the performers. Julie made that super easy. From the first time we spoke on the phone, till even now when I see her from time to time, she acts like we’re old friends and always seems genuinely glad to know me. It’s a gift to be able to make everybody feel that way, and it seems like everybody feels that way about Julie.
Julie has an interesting history. She drove a truck for a lotta years, and a motorcycle for a lot more! Being on the road isn’t an easy life for anyone, but Julie figured out how to make it work. She only travels 3 weekends a month, keeping the other weekend free for, as she puts it, “Marriage Preservation.”
She’s a regular on Sirius/XM and appears on a myriad of radio talk shows. She even made the line-up one year on Last Comic Standing! When I think about the next steps I hope to take as a comedian, I think of Julie. Since performing together in North Carolina, she has invited me to be open for her at other venues. This is how the cool comedians pay it forward.
